working on your side hustle with a 9-5

How do you do it? How do you have enough time to work on it?

It’s definitely not easy. Working on your side hustle can be very challenging. However, you should be so passionate about it and you should LOVE doing what you do on the side.

I have been doing this a little over 6 months, I’m still working on my side hustle. Working 6 days a week, non-stop and making sure I end up taking care of myself and my life in general. There are days that I don’t get enough sleep and wake up like a Zombie…

So, what are some things you should consider if you are new to this?

First, set some Goals.

You should be able to figure out where your talent is at. Find your strengths and the qualities in which you help others and they admire you for it. Also, is this something you want to make money off or just a hobby. They’re people who simply love doing what they do for volunteering and it works great. Lay out a plan that’s consistent and achievable. Make sure you set small goals to start with because if you create ones that are hard to achieve, forget it. You’re never going to be able to get them done since they’re already too hard. Your hairdresser would chop all your hair at once, so don’t do that to yourself, girl.

Next, Plan. So here is where you’re going to plan ahead and what kind of things you’ll be doing, for example if you’re a blogger ask yourself, “how many times I’m I going to be creating content?” This is something I’ve learned because it’s easy not to do. I would tell myself 1 time out of the week and at first I couldn’t even do that. So take it seriously. Especially, if you just dropped some money on that website.

Creating content ahead of time can help you get ahead and not have to worry about what your next post is going to be about at the last minute. Stay accountable at all times because like I said it’s easy to fall short. Also, keep it simple. No need to put your whole life story there if you don’t know what to write about. Write something quick and easy. Don’t overdue it. Less is usually best.

Next, Time Management

Determine how long you’ll be spending time on your side hustle. How many hours are you going to be devoting to your biz? What days of the week are you going to be working? Set a time frame and coordinate accordingly. Luckily, I don’t have kids or pets to take care of. I know this can be hard. But, if you do have a family, if all you can do is 2-3 hours then work at it. Use your time wisely and make sure you have no distractions because those are the only hours you have to devote to your business. Always keep that in mind, you have to treat your business like a baby and cater to it. You can’t just leave it alone and expect to run by itself. It’s just not going to happen.

Finally, Strategize

The easiest way to check your results is by keeping track of them. And not only are you staying accountable, but you are following up and meeting goals daily. Small ones are a huge success because it’s the little disciplines that create the biggest impact in your business. I like to call it the compound effect. Why? It’s simple, imagine adding a penny to your piggy bank an hour, and you had set a goal of saving for a month. Can you imagine how much money you would’ve saved with no interest for the next 12 months.?? Yeah exactly. It’s the smallest disciplines that get us ahead. Evaluate your plan and keep track of them, because this is the only way you’ll stay focused and accountable.

That’s it.  Set some goals, make some plans, manage your time and finally strategize. There’s no way you’re business will propel if you’re not doing something daily to push it to where you want it to go. It surely takes time to see results, but don’t give up so easily.
